Lubbock business brokers and M&A advisors
MDR & Associates works as a business broker and M&A advisor for Lubbock owners ready to part with a profitable company at a full price, and it represents the seller only. Lubbock is the seat of Lubbock County and the Hub City of the South Plains, and we send advisors out to you instead of asking you to make the trip to Frisco; they will meet you at your business or wherever keeps the talks private.
The Hub City's cotton, campus and hospitals
With 257,141 residents in the 2020 census, Lubbock is the tenth-largest city in Texas. It serves as the economic, educational and healthcare center for a wide area, which is where the Hub City nickname comes from. The surrounding plains form the largest contiguous cotton-growing region in the world, watered largely from the Ogallala Aquifer, and the Texas High Plains grow about 80 percent of the state's wine grapes.
The largest employers reflect that role: Texas Tech University, Covenant Health System, Lubbock ISD, University Medical Center, United Supermarkets, the City of Lubbock, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, AT&T and Lubbock County. Texas Tech's students, faculty and staff contribute about $1.5 billion to the economy. Settled in 1889 and incorporated in 1909, the year the railroad arrived, the city saw the former Reese Air Force Base, open from 1941 to 1997, become Reese Technology Center.

What a regional hub means for a sale
If your company supplies customers across the South Plains, whether farms, clinics, schools or retailers, buyers will value that reach and then ask how it is held together: routes, sales staff, supplier agreements and the relationships you keep personally. We document each of those so a buyer can see exactly what transfers with the company and what depends on you.
Our distribution page explains what buyers weigh in wholesale and supply companies, and U-Fix-It Appliance Parts is one distribution company the firm has sold. Before a buyer hears your company's name, they put a confidentiality agreement in writing and show through a financial profile that they can close.
How a Lubbock engagement runs
Begin with a business valuation if you want a formal third-party number, or with our free discovery meeting if a low-to-high opinion of value is enough to decide. Once engaged, we recast the books, produce the marketing package and HD video, then approach buyers from our own vetted list ahead of any blind listing, and try to draw at least two letters of intent. A principal of the firm negotiates each offer, and nothing is owed if no sale closes. The West & North Texas region page lists more plains communities we serve.

Questions owners in Lubbock ask
Do buyers see Lubbock as too far from Dallas and Houston?
Distance rarely decides a deal. Buyers look at earnings, the strength of the team and how well customers are spread, and a company serving a whole region from a city of more than 250,000 has a story they understand. We bring in buyers from across Texas and beyond, and screen each one before any site visit.
Will a buyer worry that my company depends on Texas Tech or the hospitals?
A large institutional customer can be a strength when the relationship is documented. Buyers will ask for the contract terms, the renewal history and the number of separate departments or purchasers you serve. We present that detail up front, so the account reads as stable revenue rather than a single point of risk.
