Horizon City business brokers and M&A advisors

Owners who want to sell a business in Horizon City can work with MDR & Associates, a Texas sell-side firm whose advisors travel to El Paso County to meet them. Horizon City grew from 16,735 residents in 2010 to 22,489 in 2020, and the companies that build, maintain and service all those homes are the kind of business buyers look for.

A planned subdivision that became a city

Horizon City was founded in 1962 by the Horizon Corporation, a real estate developer that bought large tracts of land across the Southwest, divided them into subdivisions and sold lots through 1975. The Federal Trade Commission stepped in to stop those sales in 1981. Of all the platted land, the area around Horizon Boulevard and Kenazo Street is the part that took hold, and the city incorporated on October 22, 1988.

It sits at about 4,000 feet in El Paso County, with only around nine inches of rain in a year, and its students attend Clint and Socorro schools. In 2011 the city formed an economic development corporation that can use sales tax funds to help eligible companies relocate, expand or develop sites.

What makes a Horizon City trade company sellable

In a city that has added thousands of residents in a decade, the steady businesses are the ones homeowners call again and again: air conditioning and evaporative cooling, plumbing, roofing, landscaping, pest control and garage doors. These are central to our home services work, and buyers value them for repeat customers and trained crews more than for any one big job.

A buyer will want to see how much revenue comes from service agreements and repeat calls versus new construction, how many technicians are licensed and whether key people will stay. Heavy reliance on a single homebuilder is the thing that worries buyers most in a fast-built area, so we measure it early and explain it plainly in the marketing package.

Starting with a number you can trust

Most owners begin by asking what the company is worth. Our free discovery meeting ends with an opinion of value, given as a low-to-high range, after we study three years of your financial statements. If you need a formal third-party appraisal for a partner, lender or estate, that is a separate business valuation service. More on selling across the far west of the state is on our West & North Texas page.

Questions owners in Horizon City ask

Is Horizon City too far from Frisco for MDR & Associates to handle the sale?

No. Our advisors travel to the owner, and meetings take place at your business or somewhere private in El Paso County. Buyer calls and document review happen by phone and secure data room, and a principal of the firm joins every negotiation in person or by video.

Will buyers pay more because Horizon City keeps adding homes?

Buyers pay for the earnings a company has already produced, not for population on its own. Growth helps when it shows up in your numbers: more service agreements, more repeat customers and a rising base of maintenance work. We make that link clearly in the recast so a buyer can see it.
