Carrollton business brokers and M&A advisors
For Carrollton owners in any of the city's three counties, MDR & Associates serves as business brokers and M&A advisors, selling profitable companies on the seller's side only. Carrollton is home to large distribution, manufacturing and service employers such as Cencora, Western Extrusions and Thomson Reuters, and to headquarters including FASTSIGNS International and Motel 6. We are based in the Metroplex, and our Frisco office is close by.
From flour mills to a distribution and headquarters city
Carrollton's economy was entirely agricultural until the railroads arrived between 1878 and 1880. By 1885 it had flour mills and cotton gins and had become a shipping center for livestock, cotton, cottonseed and grain. After World War II it turned into a suburb, and its population grew by 193 percent between 1970 and 1980. It had 133,434 residents in 2020, spread across Dallas, Denton and Collin counties.
Interstate 35E and the President George Bush Turnpike tie the city to the rest of the Metroplex. Major employers include Cencora, Halliburton, Thomson Reuters, Western Extrusions and Securus Technologies, and companies such as Heelys and Woot are headquartered here. Carrollton also has the largest Korean community in Texas, with a Koreatown of restaurants and businesses.

Inventory, supplier lines and margins in a Carrollton distributor
Distribution businesses sell on the strength of their supplier agreements, their customer list and the quality of their inventory. Buyers will ask whether you have exclusive lines, how much stock is slow-moving, what your gross margin looks like by product and how orders are processed. Our distribution and wholesale practice gets those schedules ready before the first buyer opens your file.
Manufacturers and service firms have their own buyers here too. Whatever the industry, the companies that sell best have clean records, a team that can run things without the owner and more than a handful of customers carrying the revenue.
Location helps a distributor only when it shows up in the numbers. If being near two major highways lets you promise faster delivery than rivals, show it with delivery times and customer retention rather than a map.
Anonymous marketing, competing offers
An initial meeting, private and free, takes place at your office or wherever you prefer, and an opinion of value follows. Once engaged, we describe the company anonymously, film a professional video, approach the buyers and private equity groups in our database before anyone else and negotiate letters of intent against one another. Questions owners in Carrollton ask
How do buyers treat inventory when I sell my Carrollton distribution company?
Usually inventory is included at a level agreed in the purchase contract, often tied to a normal working capital amount. Obsolete or slow stock is often excluded or discounted. We help you count and clean up inventory before going to market so it does not become a fight in due diligence.
A competitor near Carrollton has hinted it wants to buy us. Should I talk to them directly?
Be careful. A competitor learns a great deal from your numbers even if no deal happens. We bring such a buyer into the process only after a confidentiality agreement, share sensitive details in stages and let them compete with other screened buyers for the best price.
