Van business brokers and M&A advisors
MDR & Associates helps owners in Van sell a company confidentially, acting as the M&A advisor for the seller alone. Van is a Van Zandt County town of 2,664 people just north of Interstate 20, about 26 miles northwest of Tyler. Our advisors will drive out from Frisco and sit down with you at the yard, the office or somewhere private.
A town built in ten days on the Van oil field
Van began as Swindler and took its present name in 1894, but its turning point came on October 13, 1929, when the Jarman No. 1 well struck oil. The boom was fast enough that 30 buildings went up in only ten days. By the 1950s a Humble Oil refinery was operating here, and by 1994 the Van Field had produced 502 million barrels.
Oil is the thread running through Van's history, and towns built on a field tend to grow the kinds of companies that keep producers going: field service outfits, equipment and fabrication shops, trucking and the trades. State Highway 110 ties the town to Tyler to the southeast and Grand Saline to the north, and the Neches River borders it to the south. Interstate 20 passes just south of downtown.

Selling an energy-linked company without taking a discount
Buyers are cautious about energy-linked revenue because it moves with drilling activity. The answer is not to hide the connection but to document it: three years of results, how the company performed in slower stretches, how many producers it serves, and any work outside oil and gas. Our business valuation work begins there, with a recast that separates one-time items and owner expenses from true earnings. An owner who has kept equipment logs, safety records and customer files in order will find every later step faster.
Then we bring the company to buyers under a blind profile. Your name stays hidden until a buyer has registered, signed an NDA and backed up the ability to pay with a financial profile. That matters in a town of this size, where a rumor can unsettle employees and customers quickly. We work our own buyer database first, try to get competing offers in hand together, and a principal leads the talks personally, start to finish. If your company machines, fabricates or assembles, our manufacturing page is a good next read. Other towns nearby are on the East Texas region page.

Questions owners in Van ask
Is a small Van company too far from Dallas to attract a serious buyer?
Distance matters less than earnings. Van sits along Interstate 20, and buyers who acquire companies of $3 million or more in revenue travel for the right business. What they need is clean records and a crew that can keep working without you. Those, not the drive, decide how many offers you receive.
Can I sell my business but keep the land or the yard it sits on?
Often, yes. Owners regularly keep title to the property and collect rent from the new owner, so income continues after closing. Whether that suits you depends on the site, the lease and your taxes, which your CPA and attorney will judge. We make the lease part of each offer from the start.
