Universal City business brokers and M&A advisors

If you run a profitable company and want to sell a business in Universal City, MDR & Associates can handle the whole sale and represent only you. Universal City calls itself the Gateway to Randolph AFB, and most of its commerce lines Pat Booker Road; our advisors meet owners here in person, at their office or somewhere quiet.

Pat Booker Road and the Randolph gate

The first part of Universal City was platted in 1931, and the city became a home-rule city in 1960. It covers just 5.7 square miles, all of it land, about 15 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio. Part of Randolph Field's property extends inside the city limits, and the city borders Schertz on the east, Selma on the north, Live Oak on the west and Converse on the southwest.

Pat Booker Road, State Highway 218, is the commercial spine. The 2020 census counted 19,720 residents, up from 7,613 in 1970. Northeast Lakeview College, a campus of the Alamo Colleges, is located here, and the city is split between the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City and Judson school districts.

Service firms in a 5.7-square-mile city

Because Universal City is small and surrounded by other suburbs, a company based here often serves customers far outside its own limits. Buyers want to know exactly where the revenue comes from, how many customers make up most of it and how long they have stayed. Clear answers to those questions move a company from interesting to fundable.

Professional, staffing, maintenance and other service firms fall under our business services practice. Buyers of those companies look at contract terms, the people who hold client relationships and how dependent the business is on the owner.

If your company does work tied to the base, such as contracting, training or support services, buyers will want to understand how those contracts are awarded and renewed. Government work can be steady, but a buyer will look hard at when each contract ends.

What working with us looks like

We are selective. The firm takes a limited number of engagements at a time and turns down any company it does not believe it can sell for full value, so the first meeting is also an honest check on whether now is the time. If we go ahead, your company is shown only under a blind profile, every buyer is vetted for the ability to pay, and offers are gathered so they compete. We earn a fee only when a deal closes, as the fees page explains. Owners across Central Texas get the same hands-on treatment.

Questions owners in Universal City ask

Can I sell my Universal City company if I plan to relocate soon?

Yes, but plan the timing. Buyers pay more when the business can run without you, so we often suggest a transition period where you train a manager or the new owner. Tell us your moving date early and we will build the schedule around it.

Will a buyer care that my customers are spread across several nearby cities?

Usually in a good way. Customers spread across Universal City, Schertz, Converse and Live Oak mean no single area dominates revenue. We map where your sales come from so a buyer sees that spread at a glance.
