Schertz business brokers and M&A advisors
If you own a company in Schertz and are thinking about selling, MDR & Associates is a sell-side M&A advisor that works for the owner and nobody else. Schertz straddles Guadalupe, Bexar and Comal counties on Interstate 35, about 19 miles from downtown San Antonio, and our advisors come to you there rather than asking you to drive to our Frisco office.
From cotton gins to Randolph Field: what shaped the Schertz economy
The first settlers farmed wheat, oats, corn and cotton here in the 1840s, and cotton gins followed in the 1870s once the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad arrived in 1876. The bigger turn came with Randolph Field, the base that opened in 1930 and was called the West Point of the Air. A large number of Schertz residents are still connected with the military, and the city has grown into the third-largest in the San Antonio–New Braunfels metro area, with 42,002 people at the 2020 census.
For a buyer, that history matters less than geography. Schertz borders Cibolo, Converse, Universal City, Selma, Garden Ridge and New Braunfels, and Cibolo Creek marks the line between Guadalupe and Bexar counties. A service company based here often works well beyond its own city limits. An HVAC, plumbing or landscaping firm whose crews cover several of those suburbs is squarely the kind of business our home services practice handles, and the buyers who want such firms pay close attention to how much of the revenue repeats each year.

Keeping a sale quiet in a base-town business community
Owners in a place where many families know each other through the base often worry most about word getting out. We never put your company's name in any marketing. The first thing a buyer sees is a blind profile. Before learning anything more, each one registers, signs a nondisclosure agreement and fills out a financial profile that proves the money is there. Our first calls go to the firm's own list of qualified individuals, capital groups and private equity funds; blind listings on the big business-for-sale marketplaces come later, and only if they are needed.
Your employees, suppliers and customers along the I-35 corridor hear about the sale when you decide they should, which for most owners is close to the end. Until then, calls and site visits are scheduled around your staff, not around the buyer's convenience.
Working with a Schertz owner, step by step
It begins with a discovery conversation that costs nothing, held in your own office after hours or at a quiet spot nearby. Once we have gone through three years of your statements, you receive our opinion of value as a range from low to high. For a rough number before that talk, the online valuation snapshot takes a few minutes.
We take on profitable companies with $3 million to $100 million in yearly revenue. You can read about the rest of our work across the Central Texas region as well. Selling with us requires no retainer: the fee is earned only when your company actually changes hands.

Questions owners in Schertz ask
Will buyers see my customer base near Randolph as a risk or a strength?
It depends on how concentrated it is. A company serving many households and businesses across Schertz, Cibolo and Universal City reads as stable. If a large share of revenue comes from one contract or one customer, buyers will ask how secure it is, and we prepare that answer with you before any buyer sits down with you.
Do I have to come to Frisco to meet MDR & Associates?
No. Frisco is the firm's corporate office, but for a Schertz owner our advisors do the traveling. Most first meetings happen at the owner's own workplace after hours or at a quiet place nearby, so staff do not start asking questions before you are ready to tell them.
