A sawmill town in the Beaumont–Port Arthur area
Silsbee began with timber. The Gulf, Beaumont and Kansas City Railway reached the site in 1894, a logging camp and then a sawmill followed, and the town was renamed for Nathaniel Devereux Silsbee, a Boston investor who helped fund the railway. John Henry Kirby established the Kirby Lumber Company in the city, and it was the main employer and the strength of the local economy from the start.
U.S. Route 96 forms the city's southeastern border and runs 50 miles northeast to Jasper, while State Highway 327 leads through downtown to Kountze, the county seat, 9 miles away. The 2020 census counted 6,935 people.

What a Silsbee owner should prepare before going to market
In a town built around one large employer, buyers pay attention to how dependent a business is on a single customer or contract. Show that your revenue is spread across many accounts and that the work continues without you on every job, and the conversation about price gets easier. Three years of statements that reconcile, a clear list of equipment and staff who can lead are the basics. The ten-step process shows where each of these comes up, from the discovery meeting to funds wired.
Buyers for companies in Southeast Texas
We have sold Texas manufacturing and trade companies, and the manufacturing page explains what buyers of fabrication shops, wood products makers and machine shops check. Before any buyer hears your name, they register, sign a nondisclosure agreement and prove they can fund a purchase. Our Gulf Coast page covers the rest of the region, and the whole engagement is paid on success only.
