Prosper business brokers and M&A advisors
Prosper is an affluent town, and a person who calls it home may own a company almost anywhere in North Texas. MDR & Associates, an M&A advisor that acts only for sellers, has its corporate office just south in Frisco, and we help owners of profitable companies sell for the most the market will pay. We meet in Prosper, at your business or somewhere private.
Rock Hill, Richland and a good crop year
Settlers reached the area in 1846, and for decades there were two small communities, Rock Hill and Richland. They merged in 1902 when the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad began service. The postmaster, B. J. Naugle, needed a name, and J. C. Slaughter suggested Prosper because the crops that year had been so good. Today the town straddles Collin and Denton counties and counted 30,174 residents in 2020.
It is a place people live more than a place large employers are based. The biggest employer is Prosper ISD, with more than 3,300 people, followed by Kroger, Chick-fil-A, the town government and Walmart, and the median household income was about $176,000 in 2023. For an owner who lives here, the company, the family's finances and life after the sale are closely tied, and a sale should be planned with all three in mind.

Planning an exit a year or two ahead
Timing matters as much as price. An owner who allows a year or two has time to clean up the books, reduce the company's dependence on him or her, and fix the issues a buyer would otherwise find. That is the job of our pre-exit consulting, which works with an owner for as long as two years ahead of the sale. If you want a defensible number first, for estate planning, a partner buyout or simply to decide, a business valuation can be ordered by itself and is priced separately.
What happens once you call
The first meeting is free, and what you tell us stays between us: we study three years of your figures and name a value range. Should you then engage us, a principal negotiates for you in every round, and we try to bring several letters of intent to the table at the same time so that buyers, not you, set a competitive price. The full path, from engagement letter to funds wired, is laid out on our sell your business page. Prosper owners with companies in Dallas or elsewhere in the Metroplex work with the same team, and the fee is paid only when a sale closes.

Questions owners in Prosper ask
I live in Prosper but my company is in Dallas County. Can we meet away from both?
Yes. Many owners prefer that the first conversations happen neither at home nor at work. We can meet at your office after hours, at your home or at a private location you choose. Nothing about the sale is shared with anyone until you approve it and the buyer has signed a confidentiality agreement.
My company serves the new homes going up around Prosper. Is now a good time to sell?
Nobody can promise where a market goes next. What we can tell you is what buyers would likely pay today, based on your last three years, and what would raise that number if you waited. Buyers pay most for repeat customers and service agreements, less for revenue tied to one builder or one season.
