Murphy business brokers and M&A advisors
Plenty of owners who live in Murphy run their companies in Plano, Richardson, Wylie or Dallas, and MDR & Associates can help you sell wherever the business is. As M&A advisors working out of the Metroplex, we act only for sellers, usually of profitable companies whose revenue falls somewhere from $3 million up to $100 million a year, and we will meet you in Murphy or anywhere more discreet.
A Collin County town that grew with the Bush Turnpike
Murphy's first settlers arrived in 1846, drawn by Peters Colony land grants, and the original townsite on C. A. McMillen's land went by the name Old Decator. For well over a century it stayed small. Then the President George Bush Turnpike opened in 1999 and new homes went up at speed; Murphy Marketplace, completed in 2008, became the city's main shopping center. By the 2020 census Murphy had 21,013 residents, on FM 544 midway between Plano and Wylie, about 22 miles northeast of downtown Dallas.
It remains mainly a residential city, bordered by Plano, Richardson, Sachse, Wylie and Parker. That matters to an owner weighing a sale, because the people who live around you are often other owners, executives and lenders, and word of a sale can move through a small community long before you are ready to announce anything.

Selling quietly when your neighbors know your business
Our process keeps your name out of circulation until a buyer has earned it. Anyone interested sees an anonymous summary first. To learn who you are, they register, put their signature on a nondisclosure agreement and hand over proof of funds that shows they could close. The people we call first are buyers already on file with us, from wealthy individuals to capital groups and private equity, and anonymous ads on the national business-for-sale websites follow later, only if they are needed.
The first steps for a Murphy owner
Most owners start with our free valuation snapshot, a quick online range, and then a confidential discovery meeting in which we go through your last three years of statements and hand you a value range, from a cautious figure to an optimistic one. After that, the ten-step process tends to run three to nine months between signing the engagement letter and seeing the money wired. Because our base is in the Metroplex, Murphy is a short drive from the Dallas side of our work, so a meeting takes a phone call to set up, not a travel plan.

Questions owners in Murphy ask
My company is in Plano or Garland, but I live in Murphy. Does it matter where we meet?
Only for your privacy. Buyers judge the company on its revenue, profit and records, not on where the owner lives. Meetings can happen at your business after hours, at your home in Murphy or in a private room elsewhere in Collin County, whichever keeps the conversation away from employees and customers.
What if the most likely buyer is someone I know from around Murphy?
Then that person goes through the same steps as every other buyer: a signed confidentiality agreement and proof of funds before any detail. Knowing the buyer socially does not lower the price you should receive, and having several interested parties at once keeps any one of them from setting the terms.
