Collin County business brokers and M&A advisors
MDR & Associates is based in Frisco, a city that straddles Collin and Denton counties, and our corporate office is at 1518 Legacy Drive. As M&A advisors to owners across Collin County, we represent sellers of Texas companies with annual revenue between $3 million and $100 million, and nobody else. The county is the sixth most populous in Texas, with 1,064,465 residents counted in 2020, and Plano is its largest city.
Suburbs, a university and a corridor running north from Dallas
Collin County was founded in 1846 and named, along with its county seat of McKinney, for Collin McKinney, one of the five men who drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence. McKinney, Allen, Murphy, Princeton, Anna and Melissa lie wholly inside it, while Plano, Frisco, Richardson, Garland, Wylie, Celina and Prosper share territory with neighboring counties. U.S. 75, U.S. 380, the Dallas North Tollway and State Highway 121 carry most of its traffic, and a BNSF freight line serves Frisco, Prosper and Celina.
The county also holds most of the main campus of the University of Texas at Dallas, the campuses of Collin College and McKinney National Airport. Lavon Lake sits on its eastern side. A company based anywhere in the county is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area, and buyers treat it that way.

When the likeliest buyer is a competitor down the road
In a county with this many companies, the most eager buyer is often a competitor nearby, which is also the party you least want to see your numbers too early. We handle that in stages: a blind profile first, then a signed confidentiality agreement and a financial profile before any name is shared, and a principal of our firm in every negotiation. Owners who want an independent figure before speaking to anyone can order a formal business valuation.
Buyers also look at where a company can grow next. A trade firm in McKinney whose crews already reach Prosper and Celina, or a distributor near U.S. 75 with room left in its warehouse, shows a buyer the next few years of expansion, and we make that case with numbers rather than adjectives.
More than 250 transactions have closed under the firm's name since its founding in 2008, most of them in business services, manufacturing, distribution and home services.

Questions owners in Collin County ask
Is a company in Celina or Anna valued differently from one in Plano?
Not because of the ZIP code. Buyers price earnings, customer mix, the management team and how much the company leans on its owner. Location matters only where it changes those things, such as access to U.S. 75 or the tollway for a service fleet, or labor for a plant, and we reflect that in the opinion of value rather than in a county-wide rule.
Can I meet MDR & Associates in person without driving into Dallas?
Yes. The firm's one office, Suite 220 on Legacy Drive in Frisco, is a short drive from most of the county, so there is rarely a reason to head south. We also meet at your own office, or at a quieter location if you would rather your employees not see an advisor walk in.
