Mont Belvieu business brokers and M&A advisors

MDR & Associates is the M&A advisor Mont Belvieu owners can call when they want to sell a company and keep control of the process, since we represent the seller alone. Mont Belvieu lies just north of Interstate 10 on State Highway 146, 31 miles east of Houston, and our advisors come down to you, whether at your business or elsewhere.

The pricing point for the nation's liquefied petroleum gas

Mont Belvieu is the site of the largest underground storage facility for liquefied petroleum gas in the United States, and the U.S. market price for LPG is driven mainly by trading here, reported daily by the Energy Information Administration. Hundreds of oil and natural gas pipelines meet in the area, Enterprise Products operates a gas storage facility, and taxes on the industrial plants have made the city fairly affluent.

Industry has shaped the town physically too. After plant accidents in 1960, 1964 and 1965 and an explosion in 1985, petrochemical companies bought out about 200 families by 1990, and the city rebuilt two miles east of its original site. It lies mostly in Chambers County, 14 miles northeast of Baytown. The 2020 census counted 7,654 residents, about double the 3,835 of 2010, and by 2019 the city ran its own municipal broadband service, MB Link.

Buyers for companies that serve pipelines and storage

Companies that maintain, inspect, supply, staff or haul for industrial facilities often have long customer relationships and repeat work, which buyers value. Buyers also look closely at safety performance, required certifications, insurance, and how many different facilities account for revenue. We gather all of that before any buyer sees the company.

Our business services page explains what buyers look for in contract-based service revenue, and our Houston page covers the wider metro. At first, buyers see nothing but a blind profile; the name comes later, after the buyer signs a nondisclosure agreement and supplies proof of funding through our financial profile.

What the engagement looks like

We charge nothing to start. In the discovery meeting we study three years of your records and give you our opinion of value, low to high. If we see a path to full value, we recast your financials, produce the marketing package and HD video, and go to buyers in our own database before any public blind ad. Offers are gathered together so they compete, a principal of the firm presents each one to you in person, and the success fee is due only at closing. Other coastal markets are on our Gulf Coast region page.

Questions owners in Mont Belvieu ask

What safety and compliance records should a Mont Belvieu owner have ready before selling?

Buyers of companies that work around pipelines and storage facilities will ask for safety records, incident history, training and certification files, insurance history and any customer audits. Having them organized before marketing shortens due diligence and keeps a late surprise from reopening the price. We help you assemble them early.

Are there buyers who want a presence near the Mont Belvieu storage and pipeline hub?

Buyers that already serve Gulf Coast industrial customers may value a company with established relationships here, and financial buyers look for steady contract revenue. We approach both kinds through our own database, and competing interest from different types of buyers is what pushes the price up.
