La Porte business brokers and M&A advisors
MDR & Associates gives La Porte owners a sell-side M&A advisor: one firm, working only for you, running a confidential sale with competing buyers. The city sits where Buffalo Bayou and the San Jacinto River meet Galveston Bay, next to the Bayport and Battleground industrial districts and the Barbours Cut container terminal. Our advisors meet you at your office or somewhere discreet, whichever suits you.
Petrochemicals, shipping and the companies that serve them
La Porte was laid out in 1892 as a real estate venture and spent the 1920s and 1930s as a beach resort, with crowds drawn to Sylvan Beach. Wartime gas rationing and a 1943 hurricane ended that era. After World War II the city turned industrial, helped by the La Porte–Baytown tunnel in 1954, later replaced by the Fred Hartman Bridge on State Highway 146. Petroleum, petrochemicals and shipping now dominate. The Port of Houston Authority has run Barbours Cut since 1977, with the Bayport Terminal just south of town. The 2020 census counted 35,124 residents.
If your company fabricates, maintains, inspects, hauls or stores for those plants and terminals, the buyers already exist. Strategic acquirers in the Houston area know your customers by name, and private equity groups look for companies with long-standing service agreements at industrial sites. Our manufacturing page describes what those acquirers review first in a shop or plant.

What a buyer checks first in a La Porte industrial-services deal
Customer concentration is usually the opening question. If a few plants provide most of your revenue, buyers want contract terms, renewal history and how the work is awarded. Safety records, insurance history and the certifications your crews hold come next, since they decide whether the buyer's own customers will accept a new owner. We gather these documents before marketing begins, so answers arrive quickly and doubts do not turn into price cuts. Environmental and permit records for any yard or shop you operate belong in the same file, since a buyer's lender will ask for them.
Our approach with owners on the bay
You start with a free discovery meeting and an opinion of value. Every buyer signs an NDA and shows proof of funds before learning your name. We negotiate several letters of intent at once, and a principal of the firm is at the table in each round. The ten-step process lays out what happens from engagement to closing, and the Gulf Coast page covers the rest of the region.

Questions owners in La Porte ask
Do buyers pay less for a La Porte company because of hurricane risk?
Buyers do ask about storm exposure, but it rarely drives the price on its own. They look at insurance coverage, how the company performed after past storms and whether key equipment and records are protected. Documenting that history in advance turns a vague worry into a known, manageable item.
Most of my revenue comes from plants in the Bayport Industrial District. Is that a problem?
It is a question, not a stop sign. Buyers want to see how long each relationship has lasted, whether you hold master service agreements and how work is bid. We present that detail up front and bring several buyers to the table, which limits how far any one of them can discount for concentration.
