Kaufman business brokers and M&A advisors
For owners in Kaufman, MDR & Associates is a sell-side M&A advisor based in the Metroplex, and the city sits about 33 miles southeast of Dallas along U.S. 175. We help owners of profitable companies find the right buyer, set the price through competition and close without the sale becoming public too early.
A county seat on the road between Dallas and Athens
Kaufman was founded as Kings Fort in 1840 by Dr. William P. King, renamed Kingsboro, and took its current name in 1852 from the county it now serves as seat. U.S. Route 175 passes along its southwest side, State Highway 34 runs 12 miles north to Terrell and 26 miles southwest to Ennis, and State Highway 243 heads 27 miles east to Canton. The 2020 census counted 6,797 residents, and the estimate for 2025 is 10,717. Trinity Valley Community College runs its Health Science Center in the city.
If you own a trade company here, such as heating and air, plumbing, roofing, landscaping, garage doors or pest control, you are in the kind of business many buyers want to own. Companies with repeat customers, trained crews and service agreements tend to draw the most interest. Our home services page explains how those buyers judge a company.

Selling a Kaufman business where everyone knows the owner
In a county seat of under 7,000 people at the last census, the owner of a good company is often well known, and news of a sale should not start with gossip. We describe your company in a blind profile, and no buyer learns its name until they have signed a confidentiality agreement and completed a financial profile showing they can close. Qualified buyers come first from our own database of individuals, capital groups and private equity groups. When several are interested, we negotiate their letters of intent side by side, and a principal of the firm leads every negotiation.
Getting a number before you decide in Kaufman
Our corporate office is in Frisco, and our advisors come to Kaufman to meet you at your company or somewhere private. The first meeting is free, and after reviewing three years of financials we give you an opinion of value as a range. The ten-step process shows what happens after that, and our Dallas–Fort Worth region page covers the market east and south of Dallas. You pay us only if the company actually changes hands.

Questions owners in Kaufman ask
Does a Kaufman address limit the buyers who will look at my company?
Not for a profitable company of the right size. Buyers search across the whole Dallas–Fort Worth market, and U.S. 175 puts Kaufman about 33 miles from Dallas. What limits interest is usually messy records or heavy dependence on the owner or on a few large customers. Those are things we help you fix or explain before going to market.
I own a plumbing and HVAC company in Kaufman County. Is it big enough for MDR & Associates?
We represent companies with roughly $3 million to $100 million in annual revenue that are profitable and have two to three years of records that reconcile. Many home-services companies fit that range. If yours is smaller, we will tell you so honestly at the first meeting, which is free and confidential.
