Jacksonville business brokers and M&A advisors
Jacksonville owners looking to sell a company can hand the whole job, from valuation to closing, to MDR & Associates, an M&A advisor that sits with sellers only. Jacksonville sits between Tyler to the north and Rusk to the south on U.S. 69, 79 and 175, and we meet owners there at their office or away from it.
From Gum Creek to the Tomato Capital of the World
The town was founded in 1847 as Gum Creek and renamed Jacksonville in 1850. Tomato growing and shipping later made it known as the Tomato Capital of the World. The Tomato Bowl stadium, built by Works Progress Administration crews during the Great Depression, still recalls that era, as does the Tomato Fest held each June; the Tops in Texas Rodeo comes in May.
Jacksonville is in Cherokee County, north of the county seat of Rusk, and Lake Jacksonville, created in 1957, lies three miles southwest. Jacksonville College and the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary are both here. The 2020 census counted 13,997 residents.

Who buys a company in Cherokee County, and how they are reached
A profitable company here may interest a regional competitor from Tyler or Longview, a private equity group building across East Texas, or an individual looking for an established company away from the big cities. Each needs to see the same things: steady earnings, a customer list not dominated by one account, and a team that stays. If your business moves goods, such as produce, farm supply or building materials, distribution buyers will also look at routes, inventory controls and delivery contracts.
We reach those buyers without putting your name in play. Parties the firm already knows and has qualified are contacted first. None of them learns which company is for sale until it has signed a nondisclosure agreement and supplied a financial profile proving it can pay.
The ten steps, briefly
Our process runs in ten steps. It opens with a discovery meeting, then an engagement letter, moves through a marketing package with an HD video, buyer screening and meetings between you and prospective buyers, and aims to have several letters of intent arrive at once. Each offer is reviewed with you face to face; due diligence and the legal documents follow, and the tenth step is closing, when the funds are wired. Most sales in our hands take three to nine months. We cover East Texas by coming to the owner, and nothing is owed unless the sale closes.

Questions owners in Jacksonville ask
My family has run our Jacksonville company for decades. How do we set a price with nothing public to compare it to?
Private companies are valued on adjusted earnings, the profit left after owner-specific costs are added back, times a multiple. For companies in our size range that multiple is most often three to seven. Where yours falls depends on growth, customer spread, management depth and records, and we explain each factor at the first meeting.
A buyer from Tyler has already asked about my Jacksonville company. Should I talk to them directly?
You can, but one buyer alone sets the terms. We can bring that buyer into a process with others, under a confidentiality agreement, so the price is tested against real competition. An interested party tends to sharpen its offer once it knows others are looking, and you keep the choice of who wins.
