Eagle Lake business brokers and M&A advisors
In Eagle Lake, where rice paddies meet the largest private lake in Texas, an owner planning an exit needs someone who can explain a farm-town business to buyers from the city. MDR & Associates is a business broker for sellers only, and our advisors drive out from Frisco to meet you in Colorado County.
Rice, gravel and the goose-hunting capital
Eagle Lake lies in southeastern Colorado County, 16 miles southeast of Columbus, the county seat, and 66 miles west of Houston along U.S. 90 Alternate. Hallettsville is 38 miles to the west. The 2020 census counted 3,442 residents. The town has had a newspaper since 1888 and sits on a Union Pacific line, and Eagle Lake Regional Airport serves light aircraft.
Agriculture has always driven the economy, with rice as the main crop and cotton, grain and cattle behind it. The Colorado County Rice Mill operates on U.S. 90A, and sand and gravel come from mines in the surrounding area. The paddies and the lake draw waterfowl, which is why Eagle Lake is known as the Goose-hunting Capital of the World.

Buyers for farm-linked and aggregate companies west of Houston
Companies that mill, haul, supply or service agriculture, or that work the local sand and gravel, can sell well when the records are ready. Buyers look at how steady the volume is across good and bad crop years, the condition of trucks and equipment, the permits that come with a pit or plant, and who holds the relationships with growers and customers.
Seasonality is normal here and is not a reason for a low offer if the numbers show the pattern repeating. We present three years of monthly results, recast to show real earnings, along with a confidential package and an HD video that let a buyer understand the operation before visiting. Our distribution and wholesale page covers companies that move product, while our sell your business page describes the representation itself. For the metro buyers to the east, see our Houston page.
A decision you can make privately
In a town this size, one business often supports a family, its staff and a good part of the neighborhood at once. The first conversation with us is free and confidential. We review your statements, give you a range of value and tell you honestly whether the company is ready. If it is not, you will know what to fix, and nobody in town will have heard a word.

Questions owners in Eagle Lake ask
Will buyers pay less for my Eagle Lake company because of bad crop years?
Buyers will look at how revenue moved through good and poor harvests. A company that stayed profitable in weak years is worth more than one that only shines in strong ones. We show the full three-year record and explain any unusual year, so the buyer prices the business on facts rather than worry.
Does a buyer need to live in Eagle Lake to run my company?
Not always. Some buyers relocate, some add the company to an operation they already run, and some rely on the manager you have in place. If a strong local manager will stay, the business appeals to more buyers, so we often recommend securing that person before going to market.
