Angleton business brokers and M&A advisors

Brazoria County's seat has its own kind of owner: someone who built a manufacturer, supplier or service firm in Angleton and now wants the best exit. For that owner, MDR & Associates acts as M&A advisor and sits on one side of the table only. Angleton is 43 miles south of downtown Houston on State Highway 288, and our advisors come down from Frisco to meet you in person.

County seat of an industrial county

Angleton, with 19,429 residents in 2020, has been the Brazoria County seat since 1896, after a contest with the town of Brazoria that a countywide vote settled again in 1913. It was founded in 1890 and named for the wife of the Velasco Terminal Railway's general manager. The city grew where State Highway 288, State Highway 35 and the Union Pacific line meet: Freeport is 18 miles south, Lake Jackson about seven miles, Alvin 21 miles northeast and Bay City 37 miles west, with the Gulf about 20 miles off.

As the county seat, Angleton is where Brazoria County's government business is done. It is also the headquarters of Benchmark Electronics, and the Country Hearth Inn chain, first called Homeplace, opened its first location here in 1983. Every October the Brazoria County Fair, the largest county fair in Texas, fills the town.

Selling a manufacturer or service firm south of Houston

A company in Angleton is part of the Houston metro area, which means buyers already active in Greater Houston can reach it easily, and so can private equity firms that follow the Gulf Coast's industrial economy. A precision manufacturer, an industrial supplier or a service firm with long-standing accounts in Brazoria County will interest them if the numbers hold up under review. Our manufacturing page explains what production buyers check first: equipment, customer mix, margins and the people who run the floor.

The work begins with value. After a free, private meeting and a look at three years of statements, we give you a range, and if the gap between that range and your goal is wide, we tell you how it might be closed or suggest waiting. When you are ready, we take the company to buyers we have already qualified before anyone else. The Houston page and our Gulf Coast region page cover the surrounding market.

Questions owners in Angleton ask

My Angleton company sells mostly to industrial customers near Freeport. How will buyers judge that?

They will look at how many customers you serve, how long you have served them, and whether the work is under contract or bid job by job. Several steady industrial accounts can be a strength. One account carrying most of the revenue is a risk we address directly in the package rather than let a buyer discover it.

Can I stay in Angleton and keep working after the sale?

Yes, if you want to and the buyer agrees. Some owners stay on as president for a set period, some consult part time, and some leave after a short handover. Your role, title and pay after closing are negotiated alongside price, and we make sure the letter of intent spells them out.
