Portland business brokers and M&A advisors
Portland owners who want to sell a business can hire MDR & Associates as their M&A advisors, working for the seller alone through every step of the sale. Portland sits on a bluff along the north shore of Corpus Christi Bay and Nueces Bay, looking across the water at Corpus Christi, with U.S. 181 and State Highway 35 running through it. We are glad to meet at your office or at a quiet place of your choosing.
LNG, chemicals and construction on the Coastal Bend
Portland was founded in 1890 as a port and farming community, and its growth has long been tied to Corpus Christi's industrial development. In the 1950s a Reynolds Metals aluminum plant brought hundreds of jobs until it closed in 1981. Today the city is home to Cheniere Energy's LNG expansion, a Chemours fluorochemical plant and a large OxyChem facility with its own docks, pipelines and rail, and it sits next to the Port of Corpus Christi. The 2020 census counted 20,383 residents.
Construction, health care and social assistance, and manufacturing are the largest industries by employment. If your company belongs to one of them, whether as a trade such as HVAC, plumbing or roofing, a care provider, a fabricator or a plant supplier, buyers will judge it on repeat customers, safety and the depth of its team. Our home services page explains how buyers look at trades that serve homeowners.

Plant work, home work, or both: telling the story to buyers
A Portland company may earn part of its revenue from the plants and part from homes and small businesses around the bay. Buyers value those streams differently. Plant work can bring large contracts along with concentration risk, while residential and commercial service brings many small customers and more predictable repeat revenue. Our financial recast shows each stream on its own, so buyers can see where the earnings come from and price each one fairly. They will also check that licenses, insurance and safety programs cover both kinds of work.
Starting with us from San Patricio County
We begin with a no-cost discovery meeting and follow it with an opinion of value. Only buyers who sign an NDA and prove they can pay get past the blind profile, and a principal of the firm is in every negotiation. The fee depends entirely on a closed sale. Every company we represent is presented with a confidential package and a professionally produced HD video. Our South Texas page and San Antonio page describe how we work across the region.

Questions owners in Portland ask
Do the LNG and chemical plants around Portland make my company more attractive to buyers?
They can, if your company already serves those facilities or the people who work at them. Buyers like established relationships with large, long-lived customers. They will also ask how much revenue depends on project work that might end, so we separate recurring service from one-time projects in the numbers we present.
Should I look for a buyer in Corpus Christi first?
A Corpus Christi buyer may be a natural fit, but starting and stopping there limits the price. Your company goes first to the qualified buyers already in our files across Texas, including private equity groups and individuals, and we negotiate several offers at once so the best terms win, wherever they come from.
