Planning to sell a business in Corpus Christi? MDR & Associates gets the company ready, brings in qualified buyers and negotiates from the seller's side of the table only. The city wraps around Corpus Christi and Nueces bays, and its port ranks among the largest in the country by waterborne tonnage, so a buyer will want to know how your company fits into that trade.
Energy, a naval air station and the helicopter depot
Corpus Christi is the county seat and largest city of Nueces County, reaching into Aransas, Kleberg and San Patricio counties, about 130 miles southeast of San Antonio. It began in 1839 as Kinney's Trading Post, was incorporated in 1852, and opened its deepwater port on September 15, 1926. Naval Air Station Corpus Christi became operational in 1941 and is now the largest employer, with about 6,200 civilian jobs. The Corpus Christi Army Depot on the base is the largest helicopter repair facility in the world. The 2020 census counted 317,863 residents, and the city anchors the Corpus Christi–Kingsville–Alice combined statistical area.
The economy rests on energy, manufacturing, healthcare, tourism and maritime commerce, with oil, agricultural products and cargo movement as primary industries. Christus Spohn Health System, H-E-B, Bay Ltd., Stripes and AEP Texas are among the major employers, and Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and Del Mar College train much of the workforce.

Preparing a Coastal Bend company for due diligence
A fabrication shop, marine service company or industrial distributor here often works under master service agreements, safety programs and approved-vendor lists. Those are valuable, and a buyer will test each one in due diligence, the detailed review of records that follows a signed letter of intent. Safety records, insurance history, equipment lists and customer contracts need to be organized before marketing starts, not assembled under deadline. Our manufacturing page describes what buyers of industrial companies review.
We ask for several letters of intent to arrive together so buyers compete on price and terms, and we review each offer with you face to face. A company that wins on paper but stumbles in diligence loses its bargaining position, which is why the preparation comes first. A buyer who loses confidence during the review usually comes back with a lower number, and by then the other bidders may have moved on.

Questions owners in Corpus Christi ask
My Corpus Christi company subcontracts to the naval air station or the Army depot. Can those contracts transfer to a buyer?
Sometimes, but it depends on the contract type, any set-aside status and whether the government must approve an assignment. A buyer will ask early, so we review the terms with your attorney before marketing and present the contracts accurately, including renewal dates.
Energy prices swing. Does that hurt a Corpus Christi industrial service company's value?
Buyers will look through the swings to average earnings over several years. A company with customers across refining, port, healthcare and government work usually holds its value better than one tied to a single sector, so we show revenue by customer type as well as by year.
