Corsicana business brokers and M&A advisors
Corsicana owners who want to sell a business get the same thing from MDR & Associates that a company in downtown Dallas would: M&A advisors who represent only the owner, market the company quietly and put several offers in front of you at the same time. The Navarro County seat sits on Interstate 45 about 50 miles southeast of Dallas, and its manufacturing history is older than most Texas cities; Oil City Iron Works has run a foundry here since 1866.
Oil, fruitcake and glass: how Corsicana's economy was built
Oil turned up by accident in June 1894, in a well drilled for artesian water. The first commercial well followed in October 1895, a refinery was running by January 1899 and the Powell field was found in 1900. It was the first commercially significant oilfield find in Texas, and rotary drilling entered the oil industry here. Collin Street Bakery has baked fruitcake in Corsicana since 1896.
The employer list today mixes food, manufacturing and logistics: Russell Stover Candies, Collin Street Bakery, Guardian Industries' glass operation, Corsicana Bedding, Kohl's distribution centers, Navarro Regional Hospital and the Texas State Home. Navarro College is based here as well.

What a buyer looks for in a Navarro County manufacturer
Away from the big metros, the first question a buyer asks is whether the company can run without the family that built it. For a shop or plant in Corsicana, that means written processes, a second layer of supervisors, equipment records and customer relationships that belong to the company rather than to one person. We build those points into the marketing package and the HD video, so a buyer who has never driven down I-45 understands the operation before visiting.
The buyer for a company here may be in Dallas, in Houston or out of state. We start with our own database of qualified individuals, capital groups and private equity groups, and a principal of the firm stays in every negotiation. See how we approach manufacturing companies; the firm has sold companies such as Smith Tool & Mfg.
The questions shift with the product. For a food or candy maker, buyers add recipes, food-safety audits and the big retail accounts to the list. For a glass, bedding or metals business, they dig into equipment age, energy costs and order backlog. We shape the package around what each buyer group checks first.

Questions owners in Corsicana ask
Our family company in Corsicana goes back generations. How do we sell without losing what we built?
Say what matters before the search starts: keeping the name, keeping key staff, a role for a family member. We screen buyers against those points, and some buyers want exactly that continuity. Employment agreements and a transition period are negotiated in the letter of intent, not left to goodwill after closing.
Will buyers worry that Corsicana is 50 miles from Dallas?
Not the right buyers. What they weigh is labor, logistics, the building and the earnings, and Interstate 45 links the city to both Dallas and Houston. We present those facts plainly in the marketing package, so distance becomes part of the story instead of an objection raised late in the deal.
