A railroad and wheat town on U.S. 287
Chillicothe grew quickly after the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway came through in 1887. Wheat elevators went up in 1892 and 1893, and by 1907, when the town incorporated, it had 800 residents. The population reached 1,610 in 1930 and has declined since; the 2020 census counted 549 people, and the town's hospital closed in 2019. U.S. Route 287, Farm to Market Roads 91 and 2006, and two rail lines still pass through, with Wanderers Creek on the west side.
An honest word about fit: we represent companies with $3 million to $100 million in annual revenue. In a town of 549 people, a company of that size almost certainly sells well beyond the city limits, along U.S. 287 to Vernon, Quanah and farther. That reach is exactly what a buyer is paying for.

Why buyers for a Chillicothe company come from outside
Almost no one in a town this small can write a check for a multimillion-dollar company, and anyone who could is probably a customer or a competitor. So the sale needs buyers from elsewhere: operators in larger Texas cities who want a foothold, individuals who would move for the right company, capital groups and private equity groups. We start with our own database of such buyers, and each sees only a blind profile until they have signed a confidentiality agreement and proved they can fund the purchase.
Distance does not have to cost you money if the company is presented well. A buyer who cannot drop by needs a clear recast of the financials, a marketing package and an HD video that shows the operation. A company that moves goods, such as parts, supplies or equipment, is judged on routes, inventory and customer lists, which is the ground our distribution practice covers.
Fees, meetings and the first step in Hardeman County
Our corporate office is in Frisco, and our advisors travel to Hardeman County for meetings. The first conversation and the opinion of value are free and confidential. After that, our fees are performance based: a success fee due only if the company sells, falling as a percentage as the deal gets larger. Questions owners in Chillicothe ask
My customers are spread from Vernon to Quanah. Will a buyer see that as a strength?
Usually, yes. A customer base spread along U.S. 287 rather than packed into one small town shows the company can win work across a region, and it means no single customer holds too much power. Show the buyer where revenue comes from, by town and by customer, over three years, and that spread becomes part of the price.
How do you keep a sale confidential in a town of 549 people?
By controlling who learns anything. Buyers receive a blind profile with no name or address, and nothing more until they sign a confidentiality agreement and show they can pay. Meetings can take place away from your premises, and you decide when employees, customers and suppliers are told, which for most owners is close to closing.
