Clarendon business brokers and M&A advisors
Clarendon owners who want business brokers willing to make the drive to the Panhandle will find that MDR & Associates represents the seller of an established Texas company, from the first valuation through the closing table. Clarendon is the Donley County seat on U.S. 287, 60 miles east of Amarillo, and home to Clarendon College, the oldest center of higher education in the Texas Panhandle.
A Panhandle town that moved to meet the railroad
Methodist clergyman L.H. Carhart founded Clarendon in 1878 as a "sobriety settlement." When the Fort Worth and Denver Railway bypassed the original site, the town moved to the tracks, a decision that shows how much commerce in the Panhandle has always followed the route. Clarendon College opened in 1898. The grain elevator is still one of the town's landmarks, and the drive-in theater, a rarer sight these days, reopened in August 2002.
The city had 1,877 people in 2020. Highway 287 connects it to Amarillo in one direction and Childress, 57 miles away, in the other, and State Highway 70 runs 17 miles north to Interstate 40. A company here usually serves a large, thinly settled area, and the ones that grow to our size range do it by covering distance well.

When the market is measured in miles
A buyer looking at a Clarendon company will ask how the business covers its territory. How many trucks, crews or routes? How far is the typical customer? Could the next owner run it from Amarillo, or does it need someone in town every day? Clear answers to those questions widen the pool of buyers, because they let someone from outside the Panhandle picture owning the company and running it well from the first week.
We gather those answers with you, alongside three years of recast financials and a professionally produced video that shows the operation to buyers who may never have driven Highway 287. The steps we follow are laid out in order, from the first meeting to the funds arriving in your account.

Questions owners in Clarendon ask
Can a buyer run my Clarendon company without living in Donley County?
Some can, if a capable manager stays on and the systems are written down. Buyers from Amarillo or farther away will ask exactly this. We document who does what, how customers are served and which people are essential, so the answer is clear and the pool of possible buyers is as wide as possible.
How do you keep a sale confidential in a Panhandle town of under 2,000 people?
Carefully. Early material does not name the company or the town, and buyers sign a nondisclosure agreement and prove funds before they learn more. Meetings happen after hours or away from the business, and you choose when staff, customers and suppliers are told, usually near closing.
