Burnet business brokers and M&A advisors
MDR & Associates finds qualified buyers for Burnet owners, acting as M&A advisor on a success-fee basis and in strict confidence. Burnet is the Burnet County seat, 54 miles northwest of Austin where State Highway 29 meets U.S. 281, and our advisors meet you in town or wherever you choose.
From Fort Croghan to semiconductor materials
Burnet began as a Texas Rangers station in 1847 that became Fort Croghan in 1849. The town was laid out as Hamilton in 1852, renamed Burnet in 1858, and incorporated in 1883, a year after the Austin and Northwestern Railroad arrived. It sits near the divide between the Brazos and Colorado watersheds, and the 2020 census counted 6,436 residents.
The main employers are the Burnet Consolidated school district, Entegris, a manufacturer of semiconductor materials, and Seton Highland Lakes Hospital, along with county and city government. Visitors come for the Highland Lakes, Longhorn Cavern, Inks Lake State Park and the Hill Country Air Museum. Marble Falls is 13 miles south on U.S. 281, Lampasas is 22 miles north, and Georgetown is 36 miles east on Highway 29.

Which buyer fits a Highland Lakes company
An owner here may run a business that serves visitors and lake homeowners, supports a manufacturing plant, or works for the county and school district. Each has a different buyer. Trade and home-service companies with steady residential customers draw individuals and private equity groups building regional platforms; suppliers to a manufacturer draw strategic acquirers who already know that industry.
Whichever you are, buyers will focus on earnings that repeat. Service agreements, maintenance contracts and a long list of return customers carry more weight than one strong year. We rebuild your financials into a recast that shows that recurring base clearly, and we describe it in a marketing package that keeps your name out of view until a buyer has signed a confidentiality agreement.
An advisor who drives to Burnet, not the other way around
We are based in Frisco and have no office in the Hill Country, so we travel to you. A principal of the firm is present for every negotiation. We have sold home services and manufacturing companies across Texas, and at the first meeting we will tell you whether we believe we can sell yours for full value; if we do not, we decline the engagement. The arrangement is the same one we offer owners in Austin and across the Hill Country.

Questions owners in Burnet ask
Is a visitor-dependent business in Burnet harder to sell?
It can be if revenue swings sharply with the seasons, because buyers price uncertainty. It helps to show several years of monthly results, so a buyer sees the pattern repeat, and to point to any year-round income from local customers. A company with both visitor and resident customers usually reads as steadier than one that relies on summer alone.
Would a buyer from Austin want to keep my business in Burnet?
Many buyers want exactly that: an established local company with customers, crews and a name people recognize, and moving it would put those at risk. What they will want to know is who runs the daily work and whether key employees plan to stay, so we help you plan for that before buyers ask.
