Keller business brokers and M&A advisors

MDR & Associates serves Keller owners as business brokers and M&A advisors on the sell side only, for companies with $3 million to $100 million in revenue. Keller is a mostly residential Tarrant County city of 45,776 people (2020 census), and if the company you want to sell serves the homes and families around it, buyers will want to hear about it.

A railroad town that became a residential city

The Texas and Pacific Railway was completed through the area in June 1881, and H.W. Black laid out the town site that July. It was first called Athol and then renamed for John C. Keller, a railroad foreman. Keller incorporated as a city in 1955. Today it sits east of Interstate 35W and south of Highway 114, about six miles from both Southlake and Roanoke, with more than 300 acres of park land and over 26 miles of trails.

Its median household income of $141,364 placed Keller 45th on a list of the nation's richest cities with more than 20,000 people, and Keller Independent School District runs 39 campuses for more than 34,000 students. Companies that sell to households in a city like this, such as heating and air, plumbing, roofing, landscaping and pest control, can build the kind of repeat customer base buyers pay for. Our home services practice explains what they look at first.

Pricing a Keller company before you talk to buyers

Owners of well-run local companies often have no clear idea what the business would bring. A buyer values it on adjusted earnings: profit after adding back the owner's personal expenses, one-time costs and above-market pay. Buyers also weigh how much revenue repeats, how long crews stay and whether you can step away without customers leaving. A formal business valuation sets out those numbers in writing, and our free opinion of value gives you a low-to-high range after we review three years of financials.

Meeting an advisor without leaving Tarrant County

MDR & Associates is based in the Metroplex, and our corporate office is in Frisco. We come to Keller for a first conversation at your business, your home or another quiet spot. Your company is marketed through a blind profile, buyers sign a confidentiality agreement before they learn who you are, and a principal of the firm takes part in every negotiation. For owners with operations on the Dallas side of the Metroplex, our Dallas page covers that market.

Questions owners in Keller ask

My Keller company does most of its work in local neighborhoods. Will buyers see that as too small a market?

Not necessarily. A residential city with high household incomes can support a strong service company, and buyers value the repeat work that comes with it. They will want to see how customers are won, how many come back and whether growth into nearby cities is realistic. We present those numbers so buyers can judge them.

Can I stay on and keep working in my Keller company after the sale?

Often, yes. Many buyers want the owner to stay for a transition period, and some offer a consulting role or ask the owner to keep an ownership stake. Those terms are negotiated just like the price. We make sure you understand each offer's conditions, including any earnout, before you accept, reject or counter.
