Jasper business brokers and M&A advisors
Jasper business owners who want to sell can rely on MDR & Associates, whose M&A advisors act for sellers of profitable Texas companies and nobody else. Jasper is the seat of Jasper County in Deep East Texas, about 40 miles west of the Louisiana line, and our advisors travel to meet owners there in person.
Sawmills, stave factories and two big reservoirs
Settled around 1824 and renamed in 1835 for William Jasper, a figure of the American Revolutionary War, the town became county seat in 1844. Its economy was built on timber products: at one time two sawmills cut 125,000 board feet a day, and basket and stave factories operated alongside them. Rail service came with the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway early in the 20th century, and by mid-century the area had added broiler chicken, beef and dairy farming. The Morgan and Lindsey variety store chain was run from Jasper.
U.S. 190 and U.S. 96 cross south of downtown. Beaumont is 70 miles south, Newton 16 miles southeast and San Augustine 45 miles north, while Sam Rayburn Reservoir lies about 14 miles north and B. A. Steinhagen Lake about 11 miles west. The 2020 census counted 6,884 residents.

Selling a company in Jasper when the right buyer is hours away
With fewer than 7,000 residents in the county seat, the best buyer for an established company is rarely local. It may be a competitor in Beaumont, a private equity group assembling companies across Texas, or an individual prepared to move for the right business. Reaching them takes a proper marketing package, recast financial statements and, in our case, an HD video we produce ourselves, which lets a distant buyer understand the operation before making the drive.
Timber, wood products and agricultural suppliers tend to carry heavy equipment and real estate, and how those are handled, sold with the company or leased to the buyer, can change both the price and the financing. For manufacturing companies especially, an independent business valuation can help settle those questions before going to market.
How the firm works with Deep East Texas owners
You pay nothing for the discovery meeting, which stays confidential, and we tell you honestly whether we can reach full value before taking the engagement. A principal negotiates every deal, and no fee is due unless the company is sold. The same approach applies across East Texas.

Questions owners in Jasper ask
My Jasper company owns timberland or real estate along with the business. How does that affect a sale?
The two are often valued and financed separately. Some buyers want the land; others would rather rent it from you, which can mean income after closing. We work through the options with your CPA and attorney so the structure fits your plans before any buyer sees the company.
Will buyers worry that Jasper is far from a big city?
Some will, and that is why the presentation matters. Buyers pay for earnings, customers and people. A company with steady profit, a broad customer base and a capable manager who will stay is attractive whether it sits in Jasper or Houston, and the wider we search, the more likely we find the buyer who values it most.
