Hondo business brokers and M&A advisors
For owners in Hondo, MDR & Associates serves as the business broker and M&A advisor on the seller's side, for companies large enough to draw serious buyers. Hondo is the Medina County seat on US 90, about 40 miles west of downtown San Antonio, and our advisors come out to meet you at your business or somewhere private.
God's Country, and a town that trained navigators
Hondo is known for the sign the Lions Club put up at the city limits in 1930, softened in the 1940s to ask drivers not to go through like hell. In 1942 the Army built an airfield here; Hondo Army Air Field trained more than 14,000 navigators for World War II before it closed in 1946. The city counted 8,289 people in 2020 and is part of the San Antonio metro area, with US 90 running through town as 19th Street and State Highway 173 just to the east.

When the right buyer is not from Medina County
In a town of Hondo's size, the few local buyers who might want your company may not be able to pay what it is worth. The stronger buyers are usually elsewhere: a competitor in San Antonio expanding west, an individual relocating from a large city, or a private equity group assembling companies across the region. Reaching them without tipping off the town is the job. We start with the firm's own database and use blind listings on the national marketplaces only if they are needed.
What we need to see before we price it
Bring three years of financial statements and tax returns. We recast them to show true earnings, which means adding back the owner's personal expenses and one-time costs, and then give you a low-to-high opinion of value at no charge. If you want a formal written appraisal for estate planning or a partner buyout, a business valuation is a separate service. Our ten-step process explains everything that follows, and our page on the South Texas region covers the wider market.

Questions owners in Hondo ask
Is US 90 access something buyers of a Hondo company care about?
For businesses that move goods or send crews out, yes. Sitting on a main route west of San Antonio makes it easier to serve customers in both directions. We describe that practical advantage in the marketing package, but buyers will still pay mainly for earnings, customer mix and a team that stays.
What size of Hondo company does MDR & Associates take on?
Profitable companies with roughly $3 million to $100 million in annual revenue and two to three years of records that reconcile. Smaller businesses are often better served by a local broker. If you are near the line, a free conversation will tell you quickly which route fits your company.
