Bandera business brokers and M&A advisors

Before you decide to sell a business in Bandera, MDR & Associates can tell you plainly whether your company suits a full sale process and what it may be worth. Bandera sits on the Medina River in the Hill Country, 47 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, and an advisor will come out to meet you.

The Cowboy Capital of the World

Bandera was founded in 1855 by Polish Roman Catholic immigrants from Silesia, who built St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. In the late 1800s it was a staging area on the Great Western Cattle Trail for some of the last cattle drives, which is where its title as the Cowboy Capital of the World comes from. The Cabaret Dance Hall opened in 1936 and brought in Bob Wills, Doug Sahm and Ernest Tubb. The 2020 census found 829 residents, and the town belongs to the San Antonio–New Braunfels metro.

A town that small does not hold many companies of the size we sell, and we would rather say so than pretend. The owners we help here tend to run a business that is based in the county but earns most of its revenue across the region, whether in trades, supply or services.

Is your Bandera County company the right size?

The firm takes on profitable companies whose yearly sales run from about $3 million up to $100 million and whose recent books, two or three years of them, tie out. If yours fits, a full process makes sense: a confidential marketing package, a buyer list drawn first from our own database, and several offers negotiated together. If it is smaller, you will still get an honest view, and the free valuation snapshot is a quick way to see a starting range without anyone else knowing.

Our fees are simple: nothing is owed unless a buyer actually closes, and the success fee comes out of a completed sale. We meet in Bandera at your business or somewhere private. For owners who also do business in the city, our San Antonio page covers that market.

One practical point for a rural company: buyers will ask about the people. If your foremen or office manager have been with you for years, say so early, because staff who stay through a sale are often what persuades a buyer from outside the county.

Questions owners in Bandera ask

Will a buyer want a company based out in Bandera rather than in San Antonio?

If the earnings are solid and the work does not depend on you personally, location outside the city is rarely the deciding factor. Buyers care about customers, margins and the team. Some prefer a Hill Country base; for others we show how the company serves the wider region.

My Bandera company relies heavily on me. Can it still be sold?

Usually, with preparation. A buyer needs to see who handles customers, pricing and daily work when you are not there. If that is thin today, spending a year or two building a second layer of management before selling often widens the pool of buyers.
