Grand Prairie business brokers and M&A advisors

Grand Prairie owners looking for business brokers and M&A advisors can talk to MDR & Associates, a Metroplex firm that works only for the seller. This is a city that has built aircraft since World War II and now counts Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control as its largest employer, so a great many local companies make, machine or supply something.

Bombers, Mustangs and the plants that followed

During the war, North American Aviation's Plant B in Grand Prairie turned out B-24 Liberators and P-51 Mustangs. Vought took over the plant afterward, and under Ling-Temco-Vought it produced the F-8 Crusader and the A-7 Corsair II. That industrial base is still visible in the city's employer list: Lockheed Martin with about 5,000 workers, Poly-America with about 2,000, Flex-N-Gate, Lear Seating, Forterra Pipe & Products and K&N Filters. Airbus Helicopters has its U.S. headquarters here, and Republic National Distribution is among the larger employers too.

Grand Prairie reaches into Dallas, Tarrant, Ellis and Johnson counties and sits in the Mid-Cities between Dallas and Fort Worth, with Arlington to the west and Irving to the north. Interstates 20 and 30 cross it east to west, and the President George Bush Turnpike runs north to south through its western side. The 2020 census counted 196,100 residents.

Selling a shop that supplies the big plants

Machine shops, fabricators and component makers are a large part of what our manufacturing practice represents, and Texas has been good ground for them. When a Grand Prairie supplier goes to market, the first hard question is usually concentration. If one prime contractor accounts for half of your revenue, a buyer will want to see the purchase orders, how long the relationship has lasted and whether it depends on you personally.

Equipment is the second question. Buyers ask how old the machines are, what they are worth and what must be replaced in the next few years. A clean equipment list, maintenance records and a plain explanation of capital spending let a buyer price the company on its earnings instead of guessing at future costs. We gather all of it before the marketing package goes out, along with a financial recast that shows what the business actually earns for an owner.

How a sale runs from our side of the Metroplex

We are based in Frisco and come to your plant or office. Buyers see a blind profile first and learn your name only after they sign a confidentiality agreement and show they can pay. We aim for several letters of intent at the same time, because competing offers are what move price and terms. The ten steps of our process show where each of these fits, and there is more on the wider market on our Dallas page.

Questions owners in Grand Prairie ask

Will a buyer discount my Grand Prairie shop if one defense or aerospace customer is most of our revenue?

It can affect terms more than headline price. Buyers may ask for part of the price as an earnout or want to meet that customer before closing. Long purchase history, multi-year agreements and a second or third customer in progress all help, and we present those facts up front so they are not discovered late.

I run a distribution business near I-20 and I-30. Is that attractive to buyers?

Companies with good freeway access between Dallas and Fort Worth draw interest from both individual buyers and private equity groups. What decides value is margin, customer spread, inventory quality and whether the team runs day to day without you. We review those points with you before we set an asking range.
