The company today, in its own words. A family-owned old-fashioned burger restaurant started in Plano in 1999 by founder Jay Cockerell, serving made-to-order burgers from hand-packed USDA Choice chuck, with licensed locations in Allen, Coppell, Frisco, McKinney, Mesquite, Plano and Richardson.
The sale
How it ran
JC's Burger House had been voted best burger in Collin County many times over in its first decade.
In August 2011 we sold three of its six locations to a new owner who carried on what its founders had begun eleven years earlier.

What buyers look at in a service business
Recurring and contracted revenue
The strongest single driver. Revenue under contract, on a schedule, or under a maintenance agreement is worth a multiple of the same revenue sold ad hoc.
Owner dependence
If customers buy because of you, the buyer is not buying a business. Reducing this is the highest-return work available before a sale.
Customer retention and length
Churn and average tenure tell a buyer what they are really acquiring. Have the numbers ready before they ask.
