Weslaco business brokers and M&A advisors
MDR & Associates helps Weslaco owners sell a company to qualified buyers, confidentially and for the best price competition can bring, as M&A advisors retained by the seller alone. Weslaco lies on Interstate 2 between McAllen and Harlingen, and we hold meetings at your business or a quiet place in the Mid-Valley.
Farmland, cross-border trade and a regional hospital
Weslaco takes its name from the W.E. Stewart Land Company, which points to its start as a land development venture in the Rio Grande Valley. Agriculture and trade still lead its economy. After NAFTA took effect in 1994, cross-border cargo traffic in Hidalgo County rose 345 percent, and trade through the county grew from $5.0 billion in 1994 to $19.9 billion in 2006. Texas A&M operates an agricultural research center in the city.
Knapp Medical Center, run by Prime Healthcare Services, has 233 beds, a Level 3 trauma unit and a helipad. South Texas College runs its Mid-Valley Campus here, alongside the South Texas Vocational Technical Institute. The city had 41,103 residents in 2020 and sits in Hidalgo County, 16 miles east of McAllen and 19 miles west of Harlingen along Interstate 2 and U.S. 83.

Where Weslaco companies fit in a buyer's plans
Buyers look at Weslaco through the same lens as the economy: produce handling, cold storage, trucking, wholesale, and the service companies that support farms, clinics and a growing population. For a trade or wholesale company, the distribution practice explains what drives value, including route density, supplier terms and whether any one customer dominates sales.
Companies serving the medical center or nearby clinics are judged on contract length, billing records and staff credentials. For all of them, a local training pipeline, such as the technical institute and the college campus, reassures buyers that they can hire when the business grows.
What working with our firm involves
Frisco is our headquarters; Weslaco is where we meet you. A first discovery session costs nothing, stays private, and leaves you with a clear sense of what your company might bring. If you engage us, we write a confidential offering document, film an HD video of the operation, approach screened buyers who have signed an NDA, and press for several letters of intent to arrive together, letting competition set the price. A principal of the firm is present whenever terms are negotiated, and each offer is brought to you in person for you to accept, reject or counter. The South Texas region page covers the wider market, and selling your business with us is explained step by step.

Questions owners in Weslaco ask
Is my Weslaco produce or cold-storage company attractive to national buyers?
It can be, if it is profitable and well documented. Buyers look at equipment condition, food-safety records, customer contracts and how volume changes through the season. A company with long-standing grower and retailer relationships and a team that will stay has a strong story. We present that story to buyers across the country as well as in Texas.
Can I sell my Weslaco company and stay on to run it for a while?
Yes. Many buyers prefer it. A transition period, often with an employment or consulting agreement, helps customers and staff adjust. We settle the length, role and pay in the letter of intent itself, so you know your commitment before due diligence begins.
