The county seat that took over from Pleasanton
Jourdan Campbell founded the town in 1909 and gave it his name, and a year later the county seat moved here from Pleasanton, four miles to the northeast along Highway 97. Jourdanton lies near the center of Atascosa County, within the San Antonio metropolitan statistical area. The 2020 census counted 4,094 residents. Highway 16 runs north to San Antonio and south to Zapata; Highway 97 continues to Floresville in one direction and Cotulla in the other.
