Clarksville business brokers and M&A advisors

MDR & Associates works as business brokers for owners in Clarksville who want to sell a profitable company privately and on good terms. Clarksville is the Red River County seat, 58 miles northwest of Texarkana at the junction of U.S. 82 and State Highway 37, and our advisors make the trip to meet you at your business or anywhere discreet.

Clarksville's long record as a trading center

James Clark laid out the townsite after moving to the area in 1833, and from the late 1830s until the Civil War Clarksville was the most important commercial center in this part of Texas. Steamboats on the Red River carried trade to New Orleans, and the Texas and Pacific Railway arrived in 1872. By 1885 the town had two flour mills, and by 1914 an ice plant and an electric power plant. It grew into an educational and agricultural center; McKenzie College operated here from 1841 to 1868, and the Clarksville Female Academy opened in 1844. The town sits in the northernmost part of the Piney Woods, and the 2020 census counted 2,857 residents.

Over time Dallas, Paris, Bonham and Texarkana grew into competing trade centers. For a present-day owner, that history carries a practical lesson: most buyers for a profitable company here will be based somewhere else, and they have to be found, screened and given a reason to look.

Reaching buyers who have never been to Red River County

We give them that reason with a confidential marketing package, a recast of your financials that shows real owner earnings, and a professionally produced HD video that lets a buyer in another city see the operation. The company goes first to our own database of qualified buyers, and blind listings on the major marketplaces follow only if they are needed. Nobody learns your name before signing an NDA and proving they can pay. Our process then works toward several letters of intent at once, because competing offers are what move the price.

Your first conversation

It costs nothing. We read three years of your statements and come back with a realistic value range, low end to high end. Our business valuation page explains the methods. If you sell, the fee is due at closing and not before. Clarksville is one of the towns on our East Texas page.

Questions owners in Clarksville ask

Is a Clarksville company worth less because the town is small?

Town size is not what buyers price. They price earnings, the risk that those earnings continue, and how easily someone else can run the business. A company with loyal customers, a capable manager and records that reconcile can draw solid offers wherever it is located. We show those strengths with numbers.

Can you sell an agricultural supply or service company in Red River County?

If it is profitable, has $3 million or more in annual revenue and fits one of our fields, which are manufacturing, distribution and wholesale, home services and business services, we can talk. A buyer often sees an agricultural supplier as a distribution business. The discovery meeting tells us both whether we can sell it for full value.
