Paris business brokers and M&A advisors

If you want to sell a business in Paris, MDR & Associates can represent you from first valuation to funds wired. We work only for owners, usually of companies with $3 million to $100 million in revenue. In the Lamar County seat, Campbell Soup and Kimberly-Clark are among the largest employers, and our advisors come to Paris to meet you in person.

From cotton exchange to factory town

Paris sits in Northeast Texas at the western edge of the Piney Woods. It was once a major cotton exchange, and while cotton is still grown on the surrounding land, it is no longer a big part of the economy. Healthcare, manufacturing and education carry it now. Essent-PRMC employs about 1,000 people, Campbell Soup 900, Kimberly-Clark 800, Turner Industries 700 and the Paris school district 640. The 2020 census counted 24,476 residents.

Big employers like these tend to rely on suppliers, maintenance firms, trucking companies and service businesses. If yours is one of them, buyers will want to see how the relationship is documented and how much of your revenue depends on it. Our manufacturing industry page describes what acquirers of production and industrial-service companies look for.

Why the highway question comes up

Paris is served by U.S. 82, U.S. 271 and State Highway Loop 286, but it is the second-largest city in Texas without a four-lane divided highway connecting to an interstate. Some buyers will ask about it, especially for distribution or trucking companies whose costs depend on miles driven. The honest answer is to show your delivery radius, freight costs and customer locations as they are, and let the numbers speak.

Distance matters less to buyers than earnings they can verify. Before you go to market, a formal business valuation or our free opinion of value tells you where the company stands. A business in the $3 million to $100 million revenue range most often sells for three to seven times adjusted EBITDA, meaning earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, corrected for the owner's personal and one-time expenses. Questions owners in Paris ask

My biggest customer is one of the Paris plants. Can I still sell?

Yes, but plan for the question. Buyers discount revenue that depends on a single customer unless it is backed by a long record, written agreements or several contacts inside the account. We show that history plainly in the marketing package and, where it helps, arrange for the buyer to understand the relationship before closing.

Will your advisors come to Paris, or do I travel to Frisco?

We come to you. Our corporate office is in Frisco, but advisors meet Paris owners for the discovery meeting and later steps at the business, at home or at a discreet location. Many owners prefer an evening meeting so employees do not notice unfamiliar visitors during the workday.
