Burleson business brokers and M&A advisors

If you own a company in Burleson and want to know what it is worth or how to sell it, MDR & Associates is a Metroplex firm of M&A advisors that works only for sellers. Burleson straddles Johnson and Tarrant counties on Interstate 35W, 15 miles south of downtown Fort Worth, and we come to you for every meeting.

A railroad and interurban town on I-35W

Burleson began with the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad, which set up a depot here in 1880 as it extended its line from Denison toward Waco. From 1912 to 1931 an interurban line gave residents easy access to Fort Worth and Cleburne and brought electricity to town. Manufacturing and agriculture once led the economy; today services and retail do.

The city had 47,641 residents in 2020 and borders Crowley, Fort Worth and Joshua, with Hillsboro 40 miles south on the same interstate. Its largest employers are Burleson ISD, Walmart, the City of Burleson, H-E-B and Jellystone RV Ranch/Pirates Cove, and its industries include retail, education, aviation services, food manufacturing and hospitality.

What a Burleson trade or service company is worth to a buyer

Buyers usually value a profitable company on its adjusted EBITDA, which is earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, corrected for one-time costs and owner perks. For a company selling between $3 million and $100 million a year, the multiple most often falls between three and seven times that number. Where you land depends on recurring revenue, customer spread, growth and how much the business depends on you.

For home-service companies, such as HVAC, plumbing, roofing and landscaping firms serving households along the I-35W corridor, maintenance agreements and repeat customers push the multiple up. Our home services practice knows what buyers of those companies check first: agreement counts, technician tenure, fleet condition and call volume by season.

Questions owners in Burleson ask

I run a food production business in Burleson. Do you sell manufacturers too?

Yes. Manufacturing is one of our four core industries, along with home services, distribution and business services. Buyers of food producers look at margins, food safety records, equipment and customer contracts, and we prepare those before going to market.

Does being between Fort Worth and Cleburne help my company's value?

A location on a major interstate can widen your customer base, and buyers notice that. Still, they price the company on its earnings and its customers. We describe your market accurately and let your numbers carry the value.
