Baird business brokers and M&A advisors

Baird owners thinking about an exit can use MDR & Associates as business brokers, on the seller's side only, to sell a company in Baird, the Callahan County seat on Interstate 20, 20 miles east of Abilene. Meetings take place in town or somewhere more private, whichever you prefer.

A Texas and Pacific town that became the Antique Capital of West Texas

Baird was founded in 1880 and named for Matthew Baird, owner and director of the Texas and Pacific Railway. The old railway depot now serves as a visitor center and transportation museum. When the county seat moved here from Belle Plain, the county jail was taken apart brick by brick and rebuilt in Baird. In 1993 the Texas Legislature named Baird the Antique Capital of West Texas, and the town has a dozen antique shops alongside its churches, gas stations and a feed store.

Interstate 20 runs through the north side of town, west to Abilene and east 25 miles to Cisco, and U.S. 283 crosses the east side, leading north to Albany and south to Coleman. Baird had 1,479 residents in 2020 and belongs to the Abilene metropolitan area.

Questions a buyer will ask about a Baird company

A company here that reaches our size, $3 million to $100 million in revenue, almost certainly sells well beyond Baird, to customers in Abilene, along I-20 or across the region. Buyers will want to see that spread in the numbers: revenue by customer and by area, repeat business, and how deliveries or crews cover the distance. They will also ask whether managers and key employees will stay after a sale, and whether the company can run without the owner making every decision.

Not sure what the company is worth? A private discovery meeting is the place to begin; once we have gone over three years of statements, you get a free estimate of value, low to high, along with the changes most likely to push it upward.

Our process for Callahan County owners

Our advisors make the drive from the firm's Frisco headquarters to Callahan County. The ten-step process lays out each stage, engagement letter to wire transfer, and our seller services are described on their own page. We keep our client list short on purpose, send a principal to every negotiation and collect a fee only if the sale closes. For the surrounding area, our West and North Texas region page has more.

Questions owners in Baird ask

Would an Abilene buyer be interested in my Baird company?

Quite possibly. Abilene is 20 miles west on I-20, and a buyer there may want your customers, crews or location. We also invite private equity groups, investors and individual buyers from farther away, since each extra qualified bidder tends to improve both price and terms.

Can I sell my Baird company but keep the building I own?

Yes. Plenty of sellers hold on to the property and rent it to the new owner, turning the building into a source of income after closing. Others sell the building with the company. We discuss both options early, and your CPA and transaction attorney help decide which structure works best for you.
