Coleman business brokers and M&A advisors
MDR & Associates is a Texas firm of M&A advisors that represents owners, and a Coleman owner can use us to value, market and sell a profitable company in confidence. Coleman is the Coleman County seat where U.S. 84 and 283 cross, 52 miles from Abilene and 30 from Brownwood, and our advisors drive out to meet you.
A Western Trail town on Hords Creek
Coleman was founded in 1876, when R. J. Clow donated 160 acres on Hords Creek for a county seat, and it boomed thanks to its place on the Western Trail. The Santa Fe built a spur line into town in 1886. Before that, Camp Colorado operated nearby from 1855 to 1861 and later served as headquarters for the Texas Mounted Rifles and the Texas Frontier Regiment.
The 2020 census counted 3,912 residents, 16.9 percent fewer than in 2010. U.S. 283 runs north to Baird and south to Brady, and five recreational lakes lie within 30 miles.

Why the buyer for a Coleman company is probably not local
In a county seat of a few thousand people, the number of local buyers able to fund a company in our range is small. The right buyer is more likely to be an operator in Abilene or Dallas–Fort Worth looking to expand, an individual ready to move for the right business, or a private equity group. Each of them will judge the company on its numbers long before they judge the town.
Reaching them without exposing you is the job. Your company is presented through a profile that leaves out its name, and nobody learns more until they have registered, signed a confidentiality agreement and shown they can pay. We begin with our own list of qualified buyers and add anonymous marketplace ads only when the list does not produce enough interest.
What happens after the first call
We schedule a free, confidential discovery meeting at your business, your accountant's office, or wherever you like. You bring three years of financial statements; we bring a low-to-high opinion of value and an honest view of what buyers will make of the company. If we proceed, the full sequence is set out in our ten-step process, and the sell your business page explains how competition among buyers sets the price. We are paid only when the company sells. Coleman falls within the Central Texas area we travel to.

Questions owners in Coleman ask
Will the population decline in Coleman lower what my company is worth?
Buyers price your company's own record. If revenue has held steady or grown while the town shrank, that is a strength worth showing. If sales have slipped with the local population, buyers will ask how the company plans to replace them, for example by serving a wider area. We help you present either story honestly.
Can I sell my Coleman company to employees or a family member instead?
You can, and some owners do. The trade-off is usually price and financing: an inside buyer may not be able to pay as much as an outside buyer in a competitive process. We can show you what the open market would pay, so you can decide with real numbers in front of you.
