Snyder business brokers and M&A advisors

Snyder has lived through a trading-post era, an oil boom and the arrival of some of the country's largest wind farms, and its companies have learned to ride those cycles. When the time comes to sell a company in Snyder, MDR & Associates can represent you on the seller's side, with advisors who drive to Scurry County to meet you in person.

Hide Town, the Canyon Reef and the wind

William Henry (Pete) Snyder built a trading post on Deep Creek, a tributary of the Colorado River, in 1878, and the settlement that grew around it went by names like Hide Town and Robber's Roost. Oil was discovered in the Canyon Reef area north of town in 1948, the population reached an estimated 16,000 by 1951, and in 1973 the billionth barrel was pumped from the nearby fields.

Today Snyder is the seat of Scurry County, about 90 miles southeast of Lubbock and 80 miles northwest of Abilene, with 11,438 residents at the 2020 census. Oil, gas and wind carry the economy. The Scurry Area Canyon Reef Operators oilfield lies close by, two of the largest wind farms in the United States are in the area, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice runs a distribution center here. Western Texas College opened in 1971.

Selling an energy-linked company without selling at the bottom

Buyers of companies that serve oil producers or wind farms think in cycles. They want to see how the business did in good years and lean ones, how quickly it cut costs when work slowed, and whether any revenue comes from steadier sources such as maintenance contracts, parts supply or public-sector work. A company that can show all of that is easier to value and easier to finance.

We recast several years of your statements so the pattern is clear, and we set out the customer list by type and size. For companies that stock and deliver parts, tools or equipment, our distribution page explains what buyers weigh. Our process page shows how the marketing package, buyer screening and letters of intent follow from that groundwork.

Our advisors come to Snyder for every meeting that matters, and no buyer hears your name before signing a nondisclosure agreement. The West & North Texas page shows how we reach buyers for companies across the region.

Questions owners in Snyder ask

Do wind farm contracts make a Snyder company more attractive than oilfield work alone?

They can add balance. Long-term service or maintenance contracts with wind operators may bring steadier revenue than drilling-related work, and buyers value predictability. If your company serves both, we show each stream separately so buyers can see how one steadies the other when oil prices move.

Who buys oilfield and energy service companies in Scurry County?

Typically larger service companies that want more territory, private equity groups building energy-services platforms, and individual buyers with industry experience. We start with qualified buyers in our own database and confirm each has the money in place before sharing anything that identifies you.
