Georgetown business brokers and M&A advisors

MDR & Associates works on the sell side only, and as M&A advisors to Georgetown business owners we value the company, reach qualified buyers and negotiate the sale from start to finish. Georgetown is the Williamson County seat on the San Gabriel River and Interstate 35, north of Austin, and we meet you there in person.

County seat, college town and home of Sun City

Georgetown takes its name from George Washington Glasscock, who donated the land, and it is the seat of Williamson County, formed in 1848. Cotton dominated the economy from the 1880s into the 1920s. Growth stayed modest until about 1960, when residential, commercial and industrial development accelerated with the expansion of nearby Austin. The 2020 census counted 67,176 residents, and the city belongs to the Austin–Round Rock–San Marcos metropolitan area.

Government and institutions lead the employer list: Williamson County, the Georgetown school district, the city, St. David's Hospital and Southwestern University, the oldest university in Texas. Sun City Texas, a retirement community of more than 4,700 acres developed since 1995, has had an enormous effect on local spending, banking and sales tax. Georgetown was also the first Texas city to run entirely on renewable energy.

Service companies and the buyers drawn to Georgetown

If your company maintains homes, yards or HVAC systems, or provides professional services to households and local government, you are in categories buyers pursue actively. Private equity groups building regional service platforms, individual buyers wanting a solid operating company near Austin, and strategic acquirers already in your trade all have reasons to look at a Georgetown business.

The firm has sold companies such as Blooms Landcare, Peterson's Landscape & Maintenance and a pest control company, and our home services page explains what these buyers pay for. Expect a buyer to look for maintenance agreements, repeat customers and a manager who can run the crews without you.

Meeting Georgetown owners on their own ground

Our corporate office is in Frisco. We travel to Georgetown for the first meeting, for buyer visits and to go over each offer with you. The first meeting is free, and once we have looked at three years of financials, you get a value range. Buyers see an anonymous profile and must sign a confidentiality agreement and document their funding before they learn more, and the offers that follow are negotiated side by side. You can read our process or check a quick estimate with the valuation snapshot; for the capital-area market, see our Austin page.

Questions owners in Georgetown ask

Does a lot of my Georgetown revenue coming from Sun City residents help or hurt?

A concentrated neighborhood of loyal customers can be a strength, because repeat work is predictable. Buyers will ask whether that base is aging out, whether new customers replace departing ones, and whether you depend on referrals from a few people. Showing new-customer numbers year by year answers those questions.

Will buyers see a Georgetown company as an Austin-area business?

Generally yes. Georgetown is part of the Austin–Round Rock–San Marcos metropolitan area, and buyers interested in the capital region will look at companies here, which broadens the pool beyond Williamson County. We still present your company on its own numbers, since buyers pay for earnings, not for an address.
